Thailand’s Soft Power Strategy

On April 8, 2025, in Bangkok, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), under Governor Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, propelled forward Thailand’s Soft Power initiative by organizing Thai Fight Rome 2025. The event, supported by key partners, is an integral part of the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025 campaign. It also marked 157 years of diplomatic ties between Thailand and Italy, enhancing the cultural connection between the two nations.

Cultural and Sports Showcase

Thai Fight Rome 2025 was aligned with the “Grand Celebration & Must Try” pillar of the year’s 5-Grand concept. Held on April 6 at Pala Tiziano in Rome, the event featured 10 Muay Thai bouts between Thai and Italian fighters to promote Thai culture through sport. This exciting boxing event captivated a full-house crowd of over 2,500 spectators, spotlighting Thailand’s vibrant cultural heritage and fostering international relations.

Economic Impact and Future Goals

Boosting Thailand’s visibility in Europe, namely in the sports tourism sector, Thai Fight Rome 2025 is expected to considerably benefit the country’s economy. The Tourism Authority of Thailand is set to welcome 267,000 Italian visitors in 2025. This influx is projected to contribute an impressive 16 billion Baht in tourism revenue, reinforcing Thailand’s presence in the global market and strengthening economic ties with Europe.
