– ‘ZEP QUIZ’ holds the number 1 spot for metaverse-based Edtech platform in the Korean education market

SEOUL, South Korea, March 19, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Korean metaverse-based EdTech company ZEP (Co-CEOs Wonbae Kim, Shangyup Kim) officially launched in Thailand on the 19th.

ZEP, a metaverse platform that began service in 2021, has rapidly grown by offering an easy and seamless experience that allows up to 50,000 users to join simultaneously. It currently boasts 12 million cumulative users and 1.3 million monthly active users.

Building on its technology and expertise, ZEP launched its EdTech platform ‘ZEP QUIZ‘ in April last year. The platform has gained widespread popularity in South Korea, solidifying its position as the country’s leading metaverse EdTech platform.

With just a few clicks, teachers can easily create multiple-choice, short-answer, and OX quizzes on ZEP QUIZ and integrate them into their lessons. AI-powered features help reduce lesson preparation time, while students benefit from a highly engaging, gamified learning experience. The platform’s popularity among both teachers and students is reflected in its impressive 10 million cumulative plays and 1.3 million total users.

Recognizing Thailand’s high mobile penetration rate and the growing gamification EdTech trend, ZEP launched a one-month beta service in Thailand in February. During this period, ZEP QUIZ attracted 500,000 users and recorded 1 million plays, leading to the decision to officially enter the market.

One local teacher who participated in the beta service shared,"Game-based learning with ZEP QUIZ has made studying much more engaging for my students. The quiz creation tools are user-friendly, and the platform even provides a waiting area where students can gather, making it very convenient to use."

With its official expansion into Thailand, ZEP is focusing on localizing its services. The platform now supports the Thai language, introduces traditional Thai attire for avatars, and offers free maps inspired by Thai cultural landmarks, such as temples and night markets. More Thailand-specific maps and objects will be introduced moving forward.

Shangyup Kim, Co-CEO of ZEP, stated,"Thailand has great potential for EdTech growth, as the government is actively promoting ICT education and digital tools in public schools through policies like the ‘One Student, One Tablet’ initiative. We aim to contribute to Thailand’s digital education transformation by providing a customized EdTech service."
