International organisations under the UN and the EU held an event in Bangkok advocating for the rights and opportunities of women migrant workers in ASEAN countries. Titled “Safe Journey with Her: Ending Violence against Women for Safe and Fair Migration”, the event highlighted collaboration between the EU, ILO, UN Women, and UNODC. Held at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, the event featured an exhibition and panel discussion. Representatives from ILO and UN Women described the progress made by the “Safe and Fair” program, while emphasizing the need for continued efforts. They also called for societal and institutional cooperation to address the barriers preventing women migrant workers from accessing necessary assistance. The event also included a panel discussion featuring women working for improved rights and opportunities for women migrant workers in ASEAN.
