Thailand and Japan have announced a major partnership to advance sustainable business. The Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO), JETRO, and the Board of Investment (BOI) have jointly established the “Sustainable Business Desk”—a central hub to promote green investment and innovation. This initiative leverages advanced technology and carbon reduction strategies to build a more sustainable economy for both nations.

The Sustainable Business Desk will help Thai and Japanese companies fully transition to a green economy. Japan brings expertise in energy efficiency, clean energy production, and carbon management systems to support Thailand’s evolving industries. The focus is on joint ventures and technology co-creation, moving beyond simple technology transfers to deliver comprehensive, region-specific innovation.

Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) remains the country’s top investment zone, accounting for 52% of national investment from 2018 to 2024, with a total value exceeding 1.8 trillion baht. In 2024, EEC investment reached a record 374.4 billion baht, driven by digital, automotive, and bio-circular-green (BCG) sectors. This success highlights Thailand’s vision to become ASEAN’s Green Hub, in line with global trends for 2025, and demonstrates the win-win cooperation between Thailand and Japan for a sustainable green economy.
