The Amazing Thailand Festival in Bhutan aimed to enhance Thai tourism by highlighting cultural experiences, attracting Bhutanese travelers, and strengthening Thailand-Bhutan relations through soft power initiatives and interactive activities.

Inaugural Festival Celebrates Thai Culture in Bhutan

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) hosted the first Amazing Thailand Festival in Bhutan on April 19-20, 2025. Held at Clock Tower Square in Thimphu, the event aimed to strengthen Thailand’s tourism appeal among Bhutanese travelers, showcasing Thai culture as part of the Amazing Thailand Grand Tourism and Sports Year 2025. The festival targeted the South Asian market potential, inviting locals to experience a rich tapestry of Thai traditions and innovations.

Honored International Relations

The festival’s importance was highlighted by the presence of H.E. Dasho Tshering Tobgay, Prime Minister of Bhutan, who visited on April 20. He engaged in the “5 Must-Do Experiences,” enjoying cultural booths that exhibited Thailand’s soft power. His visit underscored the strong ties between Bhutan and Thailand, promoting further cultural and tourism exchanges. Additionally, the event featured notable attendees like H.E. Mrs. Makawadee Sumitmor, Ambassador of Thailand to Bhutan.

Showcasing Thailand’s Soft Power

The two-day event spotlighted Thailand’s “5Fs”—Food, Film, Fashion, Festival, and Fight. Attendees enjoyed hands-on activities like Thai cooking demonstrations, traditional arts, and Muay Thai workshops. Must-see performances included classical dance and live Muay Thai showcases. The event anticipated further tourism growth, noting that 21,581 Bhutanese visited Thailand in 2024, with 9,545 arrivals by early 2025. The festival emphasized mutual cultural respect, aiming to inspire visits to Thailand’s diverse attractions.
