BEIJING, Oct. 30, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Lancang-Mekong Treasures Carnival, a key supporting event of the 14th Culture and Art Festival of Countries in the Lancang-Mekong River Basin, kicked off on October 28 in Jinghong City, capital of Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, southwest China’s Yunnan Province.

Under the theme of "encounter the Lancang-Mekong, encounter fine treasures," the carnival has seen more than 100 booths set up along the 1.2-kilometer riverbank of the Lancang River.

The booths have been divided into six sections including tea, beans, crafts, fruits, rainforest food and rainforest stays, with travel photography and cultural creative scenarios set up.

The carnival has combined industrial promotion, intangible cultural heritage shows, cultural performances and consumer benefit activities.

In addition to the local specialties, delicacies and handcrafted goods from Lancang-Mekong countries have also been available.

When international guests sat down with local inheritors to discuss craftsmanship and farm produce, the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation vision of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits was no longer confined to written documents, but embodied in every tasting and face-to-face dialogue.

It is noted that for more than 30 years, the Culture and Art Festival of Countries in the Lancang-Mekong River Basin has served as a vital bond connecting peoples across the basin. The carnival is an extension of the festival, representing a bridge crossing language barriers.

Leveraging the festival platform, Xishuangbanna will continue to make good use of this waterborne link to further promote people-to-people exchanges.
