TAIPEI, Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — As health awareness continues to rise, pursuing a healthier lifestyle has become a growing trend among the people across generations. However, incorporating healthy habits into daily life and maintaining them over the long term remains a common challenge for many. Herbalife, a global health and wellness company, community, and platform, has released its latest "2026 Asia Pacific Health Culture Survey", providing an in-depth analysis of health awareness and barriers to taking action among consumers across Asia Pacific and Taiwan. Conducted in May 2026, the survey covered more than 10,000 respondents across 11 markets, including Australia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The survey found that nearly nine in ten people in Taiwan are concerned about their personal health and preventive care, placing overall health awareness among the leading markets in Asia Pacific. More than 65% of consumers also indicated that they are willing to invest more resources in their health.[1] However, a high level of health awareness does not necessarily translate into sustained action, with nearly half (44%) of respondents in Taiwan admitting that a "lack of motivation" is a key barrier preventing them from turning awareness into consistent action. In response, Herbalife encourages people to establish an "active lifestyle" through three core strategies—balanced nutrition, regular physical activity, and support from in-person communities—to help people in Taiwan incorporate healthy actions into their daily lives and gradually develop long-term, sustainable healthy habits.

Decoding Asia Pacific Health Trends: Nearly 90% of Taiwanese Demonstrate High Health Awareness, Ranking Among the Top in Asia Pacific. Age and Health Warnings Prompt Greater Concern, with Weight Management Emerging as the Most Urgent Need

The latest "2026 Asia Pacific Health Culture Survey" found that 89% of people in Taiwan demonstrate a high level of health awareness (higher than the Asia Pacific average of 82%). More than 70% of respondents also said they pay greater attention to their health than they did three years ago. The top two reasons driving people in Taiwan to pay greater attention to their health are "getting older" (48%) and "personal health warnings" (43%), indicating that as people age and experience occasional changes in their physical condition, they are becoming more aware that their health is not as it once was and are therefore taking a more proactive approach to health management. The survey further found that among various physical health indicators, "weight management" is considered the most critical and urgent health priority, with as many as 35% of Taiwanese respondents identifying it as the area they most urgently need to improve—ranking first among the 11 Asia Pacific markets surveyed.

65% of Taiwanese Willing to Invest More in Their Health! Supplements and Exercise Most Preferred, Yet as Many as 44% Struggle to Stay Consistent Due to "Lack of Motivation"

The survey found that more than 65% of consumers in Taiwan are willing to invest more resources in their health. As many as 47% of Taiwanese respondents selected "using nutritional supplements" as their top choice for daily health maintenance (ranking first in Asia Pacific), followed by regular exercise (46%) and healthy eating (42%). However, health management cannot be achieved overnight. Overly intense or short-term, sprint-style changes are often difficult to maintain over the long term. Incorporating healthy actions into daily life is the key to developing lasting healthy habits.

The research shows that although younger generations (Gen Z) are more proactive in trying health-related activities than they were three years ago, only around 30% are able to "stay consistent" and maintain these habits, significantly lower than the nearly 50% among older generations. In addition, as many as 44% of Taiwanese respondents identified "lack of motivation" as the biggest obstacle (ranking second in Asia Pacific). These findings highlight that while people in Taiwan generally place a high value on health and are willing to invest resources in it, turning that commitment into sustainable daily habits remains a challenge that urgently needs to be addressed.

The key factor behind younger generations’ difficulty in maintaining healthy habits over the long term may be a lack of support and companionship. Compared with other age groups, Gen Z has a greater need for the motivation provided by "community and peer support." Through getting together with others to check in and engaging in interactive support, integrating personal health management into social interactions can help narrow the gap between awareness and actual action, allowing healthy habits to be maintained over the long term.

Building an Active Lifestyle Through Balanced Nutrition, Regular Exercise, and Community Support

As health awareness continues to grow, the lifestyles of people in Taiwan are gradually changing. Herbalife recognizes that maintaining overall health requires long-term commitment and consistency, while science-based nutrition solutions, personalized guidance, and supportive communities are all important foundations for helping people establish healthy habits. In fact, pursuing a healthy lifestyle does not require drastic, life-changing adjustments, but can instead be achieved gradually through three core strategies:

  • Balanced Nutrition (Simplifying Daily Nutritional Intake): Build a foundation of high-quality, balanced nutrition. Rather than setting strict or extreme dietary plans from the outset, start with small goals and gradually develop healthy eating habits.
  • Regular Exercise (Incorporating Small Actions into Daily Life): Begin with light, low-pressure physical activities in daily life. Incorporate "micro-exercises" such as walking, stretching, and taking the stairs into everyday routines to establish regular exercise habits without adding pressure.
  • Building Community Support and a Supportive Environment: Invite like-minded friends or family members to exercise together and participate in health check-ins. Through reminders, sharing progress, and positive encouragement, healthy habits can become part of social life and a more enjoyable experience.
