GUANGZHOU, China, Aug. 31, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — In 2026, GAC continued to achieve strong growth in Uruguay. According to sales statistics from the Asociación del Comercio Automotor del Uruguay (ACAU), after approximately 18 months in the local market, GAC achieved its first-ever fifth-place ranking among passenger vehicle brands in Uruguay in July 2026. The brand also ranked third among battery electric vehicle (BEV) brands, with a 6.0% monthly market share.

From January to July 2026, GAC’s sales in Uruguay were more than 13 times those recorded during the same period in 2025, representing a year-on-year increase of approximately 1,218%. During the first seven months, GAC ranked 10th in cumulative passenger vehicle sales and fifth among Chinese automotive brands. Among the five leading Chinese brands with comparable year-on-year data, GAC recorded the highest growth rate, further strengthening its position as one of the fastest-growing Chinese automotive brands in Uruguay.

The AION UT officially launched in Uruguay in February 2026. Featuring Milan-inspired design, a spacious and versatile interior, intelligent technology and the benefits of pure electric mobility, the model quickly gained traction among young consumers and urban families. Just 17 days after its launch, the AION UT stood out in Uruguay’s small BEV segment, contributing to GAC’s rapid sales growth and increased brand awareness.

AION V also delivered a strong performance in July. Based on the C-SUV segment, AION V ranked first in monthly sales among compact SUVs in Uruguay. Across the entire SUV market regardless of vehicle class, it ranked second, accounting for approximately 6.9% of total SUV sales that month.

The strong performance of AION UT and AION V reflects growing demand among Uruguayan consumers for practical, technology-rich and high-value electric vehicles. With competitive pricing, spacious interiors, advanced technology and comprehensive safety features, GAC’s models offer a well-balanced combination of comfort, technology and safety.

Looking ahead, GAC will continue working with its local partners to expand its sales and service network, introduce more competitive new energy models and provide smarter, safer and more sustainable mobility solutions. Through continued investment in products, services and local market development, GAC aims to support long-term growth in Uruguay and across South America.
