Bangkok Bank Director and Senior Executive Vice President and Corporate Secretary Kobsak Pootrakool said the Bank organized the “Favorite Dish, Secret Episode” project inviting Thais to create a short video clip under the theme of “Favorite Dish” to promote local dishes and restaurants in communities nationwide and compete for a chance to win Thailand’s first “Little Director” award. The application was closed on June 20, 2022. A total of 313 teams nationwide submitted video clips, and a committee narrowed this down to 50 selected teams, announced on www.จานโปรด.com
“As a representative of the “Favorite Dish, Secret Episode” project, I’d like to congratulate the 50 selected teams and thank all Thais and the 313 teams who submitted video clips to help support and promote local restaurants. The committee went to try all of the dishes suggested by all of the teams to confirm that they taste great. To ensure that each is a good candidate for a video production, our five well-known directors went through all the video clips submitted to narrow it down to 50 teams. It was a difficult task as all teams made very good presentations. The directors also went to try many of the dishes”.
Mr. Kobsak also added that the selected 50 teams will join the intensive “Little Director” online course which will see the five well-known directors share their knowledge and experience about film directing during July 11 – 12, 2022. Then, each team will receive an assignment to create a short film. The film will be entered into a competition to win Thailand’s first “Little Director” award. The deadline for the assignment is August 1, 2022 and a winner will be announced on August 8, 2022 at Bangkok Bank’s head office.
The “Favorite Dish, Secret Episode” project is one way to support the local economy and help SME operating restaurants and travel businesses to gain exposure and get more attention in a time of economic recovery after a two-year recession caused by the Covid-19 outbreak.
This project is an opportunity for those interested in making films, especially students and university students who like this type of work, as they can join the “Little Director” course to learn and gain experience from leading Thai directors. It’s a rare opportunity to learn directly from these five well-known directors including Mr. Thanit Jitnukul, director of Bang Rajan, Mr. Prachya Pinkaew, director of Tom Yum Goong, Mr. Bandit Thongdee, director of Pumpuang, Mr. Rashane Limtrakul, director of Loke Tung Bai Hai Nai Khon Diew and Mr. Napat Tangsanga, a short film director who has won awards from many competitions.
The winner from this project will receive Thailand’s first “Little Director” award and the “Golden Bualuang” award as well as prizes totaling 400,000 baht. All films will be presented via the Bank’s online channels to help promote 50 “Favorite Dishes”. Restaurant owners of the selected “Favorite Dishes” locations will also receive a “Favorite Dish, Secret Episode” logo that guarantees the quality of their food.
