Bangkok Bank Director and Executive Vice President Mr. Thaweelap Rittapirom said that Thailand is honored to host the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, or APEC 2022, a forum for economic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region to promote the liberalization of trade and investment as well as cooperation in various fields that will lead to the creation of inclusive, sustainable economic growth and prosperity for the people of the region. Bangkok Bank, as a member of the Thai Bankers’ Association and a communication partner of APEC 2022, has more than 300 branches in 14 economies outside its home market. The Bank would like to invite all Thais to welcome all member economies to APEC 2022 which will be held during November 14-19, 2022 as well as other related meetings.
On behalf of Thais and to welcome all member economies, Bangkok Bank has organized a 18 x 200 meter billboard at the exit from Suvarnabhumi Airport, which is like a gateway to Bangkok, the venue for APEC 2022. The billboard will be installed from May 25 until the end of 2022. The Bank donated the use of the billboard during that period to the Public Diplomacy Information Division, Department of Information, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to be used for public relations and to welcome all member economies which will promote the positive image of Thailand as a host of APEC 2022.
The main theme of the APEC 2022 meetings is “Open. Connect. Balance.” which focuses on several issues: opening trade and investment opportunities; advancing regional economic integration through a new perspective; learning from Covid-19 to build economic opportunity in all sectors in society; promoting the safe and seamless resumption of cross-border travel; increasing digital connectivity; and creating balance through responsible business operations which focus on protecting the environment and building food security and agricultural robustness for the well-being of the people instead of focusing solely on generating profits.
In addition, a Bio-Circular-Green Economy Model (BCG) will be used as part of a recovery strategy for the post-Covid era. The BCG model incorporates all three principles of sustainability to encourage everyone to change their behavior and balance all things, to jointly reinforce efforts to address climate change and accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Mr. Thaweelap added that APEC Economic Cooperation is another important factor in the growth of the business sector in Thailand, especially for entrepreneurs who want to expand their business to regional and international markets. As one of the largest regional banks in Southeast Asia, Bangkok Bank is ready and will play an important role to support the business sector with our international network of more than 300 branches in 14 major economies around the globe, including in APEC member economies.
“Bangkok Bank believes that under the APEC Economic Cooperation comprising of 21 APEC member economies, Thai businesses will gain various forms of trade and investment opportunities by working and growing side by side with a trusted partner like Bangkok Bank. With our capability and readiness in terms of coverage, information and good understanding of domestic markets in the region, we can help our customers open the doors of international trade and investment opportunities and connect them with global markets, which will increase the value of their businesses for sustainable growth going forward,” said Mr. Thaweelap.
