Bangkok Bank, in collaboration with Bualuang Securities Public Company Limited and BBL Asset Management Company Limited, has joined Thammasat University to launch two courses for a new generation of students, namely TU 309 Professional Securities Investment and TU 234 Investing for Beginners, to pave the way for career in finance and investment.
Bangkok Bank Executive Vice Presidents Pochanee Kongkalai said that Bangkok Bank, in collaboration with Bualuang Securities Public Company Limited (BLS) and BBL Asset Management Company Limited (BBLAM), joins Thammasat University to develop TU 309 Professional Securities Investment (3 credits) and extracurricular activities as well as TU 234 Investing for Beginners (1 credit) as well as activities that focus on networking. Executives from Bangkok Bank, BLS and BBLAM will give lectures throughout the courses to provide knowledge and hands-on experience from investment professionals from the country’s leading financial institutions that will benefit students in helping them develop knowledge and skills for future investment-related professions.
“Bangkok Bank and Thammasat University are trusted partners that have cooperated and supported each other in many ways over the years, such as co-organizing The Stock Master@University – an incubation program for a new generation of startups that allows students to join internships while learning financial knowledge from professionals. It is a great opportunity for Bangkok Bank, Thailand’s leading financial institution, which has professional personnel in investment who can bring their potential to enhance financial and investment knowledge for a new generation who are increasingly paying attention to the investment landscape. At the same time, the world of finance and investment is changing very rapidly so it must be closely monitored. The content of the course includes new investment ideas and the development of instruments and investment assets such as digital assets as well as investment facilities. Therefore, we are confident that this cooperation will help strengthen the academic strength of Thammasat University going forward,” said Ms. Pochanee.
Pichet Sithi-Amnuai, President of BLS, said that students today are increasingly interested in saving money through investment, as evidenced by the increasing number of new account openings among the younger generation, unlike Generation X and Baby Boomers in the past. Therefore, BLS, as Bangkok Bank’s subsidiary, has placed great emphasis on promoting knowledge and instilling financial discipline as well as recommending investments and savings in a wide range of financial assets to enhance students’ basic knowledge of finance and investment while exchanging experiences with other leading financial agencies in Thailand. Students attending the course will learn the fundamentals of investing in stocks, mutual funds, and bonds as well as investment planning from professionals until they can apply their knowledge for taking the investment advisor license exam to apply for a job in finance and investment.
“The content of this course is very intensive. In addition to understanding and learning about the Thai economy with professionals from leading financial institutions, students will also study everything from basic financial planning methods to basic knowledge of investing in the stock market and financial markets, as well as learning about a wide range of financial products. More importantly, they will have a chance to practice with virtual investments. In short, this course has been specially designed to answer the needs of the new generations who are interested in investment,” said Mr. Pichet.
Wasin Wattanaworakijkul, Managing Director, Head of Business Distribution, BBLAM, said that even though finance and investment tools are available everywhere, having knowledge of theoretical content is essential to understanding the core principles and concepts. This knowledge, coupled with the experience of professionals in the finance and investment business, will give students a more complete and clear vision of the industry. It may also spark interest in the profession of finance, financial planning, and investment, which are increasingly more important, for students. He also believes that these two courses will help open up the world of finance in the modern era and provide valuable and useful skills for students who are interested in working in this field.
Associate Professor Gasinee Witoonchart, Rector of Thammasat University, said that Thammasat University focuses on the development of students by offering practical knowledge. Therefore, relationships with all business and industrial sectors has been nurtured and grown. We would like to thank Bangkok Bank for providing us with a team of executives from its subsidiaries to raise the level of knowledge and competence for students. The Bank has joined Thammasat University to design the course from the ground up. More importantly, students who pass this course will have the opportunity to take the investment advisor license exam for free. Therefore, this is an important cooperation between Thammasat University and Bangkok Bank.
Associate Professor Dr. Pipop Udorn, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Thammasat University, added that the new generations do not like working with big companies, and prefer to run their own business and be self-employed. That is why one of the most important skills today is financial literacy, both for personal finance and liquidity management as well as investment risk management, to grow your investments by taking advantage of new financial instruments, including digital assets. This is why Thammasat University has collaborated with Bangkok Bank to develop this knowledge and skills in the form of courses and other activities for students. The main goal is to enable students to have complete knowledge and financial skills which will be useful for living and working well into the future.
