The Tourism Authority of Thailand celebrates Air Astana’s inaugural flight to Phuket, enhancing ties with Kazakhstan. The expanded service expects 103,584 seats and significant growth in Kazakhstani tourism.
Inaugural Flight Celebration
Bangkok, 28 October 2024 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) held a warm reception at Phuket International Airport to celebrate Air Astana’s first flight from Astana, Kazakhstan to Phuket. Ms. Suladda Sarutilavan, TAT Europe Region Executive Director, hosted the event. Officials and representatives from key public and private sectors in Phuket joined in welcoming Air Astana Flight KC163, which landed on 27 October.
Strengthening Tourism Ties
This flight underscores the growing tourism relationship between Kazakhstan and Thailand. Ms. Suladda emphasized that the partnership with Air Astana enhances the bond between the two nations, providing Kazakhstani tourists better access to Phuket’s famed beaches and cultural sites. This inaugural flight represents progress in promoting sustainable tourism links with Kazakhstan.
Expanding Market and Opportunities
Air Astana has scheduled 624 flights to Thailand for the tourism season from October 2024 through March 2025, increasing interest from Kazakhstani tourists in Thailand’s destinations. Recent strategic agreements, including visa exemptions, have boosted Kazakhstan’s visits to Thailand; Phuket and other areas are popular destinations. Thailand’s initiatives focus on partnerships to maintain its appeal as a top Southeast Asian destination.
