Celebrating Children’s Day – Bangkok Bank has produced 150,000 ‘Nong Jud Love the World’ notebooks to encourage Thai children to love the environment and conserve Thailand’s seas by separating waste. The notebook is made of more than 50% recycled paper (saving 325 fewer trees against notebooks using non-recycled paper), highlighting environmental responsibility and providing interesting tips on saving money to create awareness of sustainable finance among Thai children. A total of 150,000 notebooks are given for free through bank branches, schools and offices across the country.
Bangkok Bank Executive Vice President Pochanee Kongkalai said the bank has produced 150,000 Nong Jud Love the World notebooks as a gift for children on Children’s Day 2024 to show Bangkok Bank’s commitment to encourage Thai children to be aware of the importance of environmental conservation. This is an important issue that both the government and private sectors are paying great attention to. In this regard,
Bangkok Bank introduced “Bualuang the Earth” project in 2022 to raise awareness about Thailand’s seas, which have been in constant crisis. In 2023 alone, it was found that there were over 138.450 million pieces of floating garbage in the Gulf of Thailand which come largely from 5 major rivers: Tha Chin, Mae Klong, Chao Phraya, Bang Tabun and Bang Pakong.
The production of the notebook has taken sustainability into account and used eco-friendly paper, which has obtained a green label standard, and Eco Fiber, made up of more than 50% recycled paper. Using this method, the production of Nong Jud Love the World notebooks used 325 fewer trees, 26 million fewer tons of Carbon Dioxide (CO2), 68,092 fewer liters of water energy, 10 fewer tons of steam energy, and 1,565 fewer kilowatt-hours than a book produced with non-recycled paper.
“Bangkok Bank has created the Nong Jud Love the World notebook with Nong Jud the whale shark ¬¬¬ – the kind big brother of the sea – as a representative to connect with children and to raise awareness around the importance of preserving nature and the environment by separating garbage through an easy and fun game hidden with the notebook cover. Moreover, Nong Jud gives knowledge about simple saving disciplines such as bookkeeping for income and expenses, so children will know how to save money and set financial goals. This will have a positive effect on the financial future of the children while emphasizing the Bank’s status as a trusted partner who will stay by the kid’s side from the beginning to help take care of their finances and create environmental awareness in a sustainable way,” Miss Pochanee said.
Bangkok Bank has distributed 150,000 Nong Jud Love the World notebooks to more than 761 branches nationwide, 2,000 schools, and throughout communities and government agencies as gifts for children on the occasion of Children’s Day 2024. The Bank has continued to organize this activity annually.
